Muscle Cramps & Spasms

Causes of Muscle Spasms

muscle cramps

Muscle cramps and spasms, or involuntary muscle contractions, can occur as a symptom from many different conditions. These cramps and spasms feel like there is tightness you the muscles and sometimes can be accompanied by pain. This most often happens soon after injury. Knots in a muscle will typically form two weeks after the initial injury, making early treatment important.

Inflammation comes from an over-stretched or torn muscle. It is inflammation that causes muscle spasms. Most episodes of lower back pain that take people to the emergency room is caused by damage to the muscles and/or ligaments in the lower back.
