To help ensure the best possible experience and results from your dermal filler treatment, please carefully review the following pre- and post-treatment guidelines. These instructions are designed to support safety, comfort, and optimal healing.

Please inform your provider if you have a history of perioral herpes (cold sores). In some cases, preventive antiviral therapy may be recommended prior to treatment.
Avoid the Following Before Treatment:
Avoid dental work, including routine cleanings, for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Avoid dental procedures for 1 month after treatment.
Avoid oral surgery for at least 4 weeks prior and 1 month after treatment.
To help reduce the risk of bruising:
Avoid over-the-counter blood-thinning medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, unless otherwise directed by your physician.
Avoid herbal supplements such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules.
If you have a cardiovascular history, consult your primary care provider before stopping Aspirin.
Avoid topical products including Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinals, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or other exfoliating or anti-aging products.
Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, threading, or hair removal creams in the treatment area.
Avoid alcoholic beverages to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Dermal fillers are not recommended if you are:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Allergic to filler ingredients
Experiencing active skin infections in the treatment area
Please discuss any medical conditions or concerns with your provider prior to treatment.
Arrive with a clean face and no makeup.
You may bring makeup to apply after your appointment if appropriate.
A topical anesthetic may be applied for comfort.
In some cases, a local numbing medication may be used.
During and after injections:
Mild tenderness or a stinging sensation may occur.
Your provider may gently massage the treated areas to ensure even distribution.
Temporary redness at injection sites is normal.
Following your dermal filler treatment, you may notice:
Mild to moderate swelling
Redness at injection sites
Possible bruising
Temporary tenderness
Some areas may feel firm for 1–2 weeks. This is normal and typically softens as the filler integrates into the tissue.
To support optimal healing:
Swelling & Bruising
Apply a cold compress gently (avoid pressure) to help reduce swelling.
Pinpoint bleeding should subside shortly after treatment.
Makeup & Skin Care
Once any bleeding has stopped and the area has cooled, makeup may be applied.
Avoid applying pressure when cleansing or applying products for 2–3 days.
Activity Restrictions
Avoid strenuous exercise for the remainder of the treatment day.
Normal daily activities may typically resume immediately.
Discomfort
You may take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) if needed.
Avoid NSAIDs unless otherwise directed.
Sun Exposure
Avoid prolonged sun or UV exposure until redness and swelling resolve.
Use SPF 30 or higher sunscreen when outdoors.
Additional Treatments
Wait at least 4 weeks (or as directed by your provider) before receiving laser treatments, facials, or other aesthetic procedures in the treated area.
Bruising Timeline
Untreated bruising generally fades within 5–14 days.
